Dear Parents:  In preparation for the weeks soon to come, I am requesting your support and collaboration during for the administration of the ISAT (Illinois Standard Assessment Test) for 2012. The testing window will begin Wednesday, March 7, 2012 end Friday, March 16, 2012.  This test is administered annually to all students (Inclusive English Language Learners and students with Special Needs), in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8th.  The test is of high importance in the academic life of the students in these grades.  For students in grades 3, 6, and 8th, it determines if the student will pass to the next grade and if they will be going to mandatory Summer School.  This test also evaluates the teachers and the school on academic achievement.  Therefore, we all need to pay special attention to testing during these two weeks for them to take it with success.

If you have children in grades 3-8th, I respectfully ask that your children be present and on time every day, but especially during this two week period.  Students who are tardy take the test at a later time during the ISAT scheduled weeks.  I expect perfect attendance and no tardies during the two weeks of testing for the best testing conditions of students.  Test administration begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. I need your cooperation in order for the students to take the test in the best possible conditions.  In 2011, LVA reached 81.8% at or above in Reading, 86.8% in Mathematics, 84.2% in Science and a 50.8% - Reading/Mathematics Combined, record high for students with an Individual Education Plan.  Let us continue working together for the success of our students and school.

Please support the students with the following:

*Make sure that your children are present and come to school on time every day, but especially during testing time.

 

*Schedule doctor/dental visits during the p.m. after school if possible.

*Encourage your children to eat breakfast in school, which takes place from 9:00 to 9:15am.

*Children should be in bed at a good time, but especially during testing.  The recommended time for children to be in bed is 8:30 -9:00p.m. on school nights.

*Motivate your children that he/she will do very well on the test by focusing and reading the questions well and answering them to the best of his/her ability.

*Make every effort to provide a peaceful environment every night before testing.

* May I remind you additionally, that for grades 3, 6, and 8, the ISAT test results, (ISAT scores must be at the 24th or above percentile in Reading, Mathematics, maximum of 9 Excused absences, and final Report Card Grade in Reading/Math of C or better) these will determine if the student must attend Summer School and is at risk of failing the grade.  Student must pass Summer school successfully to be able to pass to the next grade.  The 2012 CPS, Promotion Policy for students in these grades, was sent to all parents during the 2nd Quarter Report Card Distribution.  The CPS 2012 Promotion policy is also located in poster board format at the entrance of the school building in Spanish and English.

There will be no SES after school program during the two weeks of ISAT testing, March 6-16, 2012

Estimados Padres de Familia:

En preparación para las semanas que pronto se aproximan, les solicito su apoyo y  colaboración durante la administración de la prueba ISAT (Prueba Estándar de Illinois) para 2012.   El período de la Prueba comenzara el miércoles, 7 de marzo, 2012 y termina el viernes, 16 de marzo, 2012.  Dicha prueba se administra anualmente a todos los estudiantes (inclusive todo Estudiante Aprendiendo Ingles y estudiantes con Necesidades Especiales) en los grados 3º, 4º, 5º, 6º, 7º, 8º.  Dicho examen es de suma importancia en la vida académica de estudiantes en estos grados.  Para los estudiantes en 3º, 6º y 8º, esta prueba ISAT determina si pasan al siguiente grado escolar y si van obligatoriamente a Escuela de Verano.  Dicha prueba igualmente califica a las maestras y a la escuela en su progreso académico.  Por lo tanto todos debemos poner atención especial a esta Prueba para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes a que la tomen con éxito.

Si usted tiene un niño(a) en los grados 3º - 8º  por favor, les pido de la manera más atenta, que no falten sus niños a clases ningún día de clases, pero especialmente durante estas dos semanas.  Los estudiantes que llegan tarde toman las pruebas después durante el periodo de pruebas en estas dos semanas.  Espero asistencia perfecta sin tardanzas durante estas dos semanas por el mejor aprovechamiento de los estudiantes.  La administración de la prueba comienza a las 9:15 en punto.

Necesito su cooperación para que sus niños (as) tomen los exámenes con las mejores condiciones posibles.  En 2011, LVA alcanzó 81.8% a nivel o más en Lectura, 86.8% en Matemáticas, 84.2% en Ciencias y un 50.8% - Lectura/Matemáticas combinado,  nivel histórico para estudiantes con Plan Individual Educativo.  Sigamos trabajando juntos para lograr el éxito de nuestros estudiantes y escuela.

Por favor apoye a los estudiantes de la siguiente manera:

    *Asegurase que su niño(a) esté presente y que llegue a tiempo a clases todos los días durante el periodo de pruebas.

    *Haga sus citas al médico/dentista por la tarde. 

    *Anime a su niño(a) que desayune aquí en la escuela de 9:00 a 9:15 a.m.

    *Los niños(as) deben irse a dormir a buena hora siempre, pero especialmente, durante los días de pruebas.  La hora recomendada es 8:30 a 9:00 p.m. durante días de clase .

    *Anime a su niño(a) que le va a ir muy bien en el examen, que se enfoque leyendo muy bien las preguntas y contestarlas lo mejor que pueda. 

    *Hagan todo lo posible por proporcionar un ambiente tranquilo cada noche antes de cada prueba.

    *Platique con su niño(a) explicándole que si ha estado presente todos los días escolares, ha puesto atención en clase y a    terminado todo sus asignaturas en clase y de tarea diariamente; van a salir muy bien en el ISAT.

   

    *Les recuerdo adicionalmente, que para los grados 3º, 6º, 8º, los resultados en ISAT tienen que estar en el porcentaje de 24 o más en Lectura y Matemáticas, un mínimo de 9 días de ausencia Con Excusa y calificaciones final en la boleta en Lectura y Matemáticas de “C” o mejor, estos nos indican si el estudiante tiene que ir a Escuela de Verano y corre el riesgo de repetir el año. Los estudiantes tienen que cursar Escuela de Verano con éxito para poder ser promovidos al próximo grado.  El Reglamento para Promoción de las Escuelas Públicas de Chicago 2012 se entregó a todo padre de familia con estudiantes en dichos grados, durante la Entrega de Boletas de Calificaciones para el 2º Cuarto escolar.  También se encuentra el reglamento tamaño poster a la entrada de la escuela en Español e Ingles.  Le agradezco de antemano todo su apoyo y colaboración al apoyar a todos los niños para éxito académico.

La participación respetuosa, positiva y colaborativa de padres de familia  con la escuela apoya el aprovechamiento académico de todo estudiante.  Los esperamos!
